The city of Ostrava tries to present itself not only as an industrial city without any interest, but it also tries to endear its supporters by cultural and musical events and festivals.

The 12th JAZZ OPEN OSTRAVA Jazz Festival is undoubtedly one of these attractions. This open air festival annually supports the presentation of jazz as a 21st century music that is still on the rise and is not just a musical style of history. The festival takes place in the courtyard of the Slezskoostravský castle from 9th June to 10th June 2017. However, the whole festival is preceded by a prologue at the Music club Pjekta on Saturday, June 3, 2017, where the exhibition of the graphic designer Jiri Suchy is on the program, With Mr. Suchý Jitka Molacka and Boris Urbánek. The main stars of the entire jazz festival program are Ida Nilsen from Denmark (Friday, June 9, 2017) and eight-member band Patax (Saturday 10 June 2017). Tickets are in the Ticketportal pre-sales network. The price of one two-day ticket is CZK 400, one-day ticket costs CZK 200. Two-day VIP entrance to the festival is for CZK 900. Discounts for this event are 50% discount for students and seniors.
